Annemarie van Haeringen wins Max Velthuijs Prize

Illustrator and picture book maker Annemarie van Haeringen has won the Max Velthuijs Prize. She donated her archive to the Allard Pierson in 2023.

The Max Velthuijs Prize is a triennial oeuvre prize for Dutch illustrators of children's books.

The jury describes Van Haeringen as someone with “incredible craftsmanship who, with her very own drawing pen, has left an indelible mark on the Dutch illustrator landscape.” This is a prize for your entire oeuvre, a kind of superlative on top of the other wonderful prizes I have already won," Van Haeringen commented.

In October 2022, her work was on display at the Allard Pierson in the exhibition Op papier durf ik alles - tekeningen van Annemarie van Haeringen. This focused on the creative process: both storyboards, sketchbooks and final illustrations were featured.

The award ceremony will take place in November at the Literatuurmuseum in The Hague.
